I think its a combination of three things.<br /><br />#1 people want to be part of a greater community with continuity.<br /><br />#2 A little nostalgia <br /><br />#3 A "rules bloat" fatigue <br /><br />I'd also bet that the readers are quite often DM's . Old School unlike more modern rules is the DM's game, not the players.
