Love the top photo! That's Thomas on the newspaper, Jane on the blanket, & looks like Charles on EG's lap. For more behind-the-scenes, see my new book Edward Gorey Plays Cape Cod: Puppets, People, Places, & Plots (www.Boom-Books.com) -- Carol
That's definitely Gorey's Dracula, although I can't remember if it's from an illustrated edition of the book itself or the concept work he did for a stage production.
He was a one-off. I especially like The Gashlycrumb Tinies. "N is for Neville who died of ennui." Genius.
ReplyDeleteGreat, bizarre and inspiring stuff! Like it! :D
ReplyDeleteOddly, I've been planning a post on his tarot-style "Fantod Deck" as an alternate Deck of Many Things for my Dwarf-Land setting. Definitely a fan.
ReplyDeleteOne of my faves as well.
