Hmmm

What should we play tonight?

As is obvious from the ragged covers, these books have seen a lot of use. But its been a long time...

Incidentally, wouldn't it be something if, assuming WotC's 1E reprints sell well, they reprint these awesome books as well? Probably unlikely, they seem to favor the Mentzer stuff, but (no disrespect to Mr. Mentzer), the Moldvay/Cook stuff was always my favorite.

  1. Yeah, reprints of the above would be awesome. Heck, I'd be interested if they did a POD.

  2. I prefer B/X to BECMI too. I only wish there was a combined ed. of those two books with some more monsters and treasures, and perhaps a few more classes.

  3. Yes that would be amazing! Ideally with the original covers!

  4. I think B/X is damned near perfect.

  5. I'm partial to Moldvay/Cook for no other reason than nostaglia as that is what I started on, but haven't had it for years. Never had the Mentzer stuff, but it might be cool to see a combined Mentzer stuff and Moldvay/Cook edition. I don't know how much they varied, but where there is a rules divergence or text divergence, just include both rules with a Moldvay/Cook says: and then Mentzer says:

  6. B2 or X1- either one would be a great time.

  7. I'd really love to see a reprint of the Holmes basic set and the original OD&D boxed set.

  8. OD&D and Moldvay/Cook B/X are at the top of my reprint wishlist too.

  9. I'm all for reprinting OD&D, Holmes, and B/X! Of course, what good would these RPGs be without the seminal, iconic, and beloved TSR modules from that time period? B1-4 and X 1-2 should return as well! YMMV may vary on others in the B and X range.(And the CM, M, and IM stuff...) ;-)

And honestly, it would be *awesome* if Judges Guild reprints the original Caverns of Thracia, Dark Tower, City State of The Invincible Overlord, Wilderlands of High Fantasy, Tegel Manor, etc...(Ok, Dark Tower wasn't for D&D, but it was close! :-)) Hell, reprints of their Runequest, Tunnels & Trolls, and Traveller stuff would be sweet, too....

As for my my belated 'let's play' vote, I cast my ballot for X2!

  11. Wonderful stuff, the originals.

As far as "Compare Electric Rates" is concerned, he can do a flying fuck flip into the wall of sharpened stakes and let his impaled, rotting corpse serve as a reminder for shithole spammers everywhere.
