Jim Roslof 1946-2011

By now, I'm sure you know Jim has passed. One of the greats of early TSR's pantheon of phenomenal artists, Jim didn't just illustrate the game, he helped give it its own, unique, iconic look. His work is instantly recognizable.

He was also a nice guy, humble and friendly. I found him a few years back running a stained glass business with his wife, to see if he'd like to do some work for Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics. He was, and he stepped up to the challenge remarkably, cranking out new images of adventure like he had never stopped.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I was sad when Gary and Dave went. But the loss of the golden age artists seems to be hitting me harder.

  2. Roslof will be missed... I love his sense of stort in every picture he did. I especially love how one or more of his characters always seems to be thinking, "Oh, shit!"

  3. I think these pieces really spot light for me what was most unique about Roslof's art - his use of color.

May God bless Jim's wife, family, and friends.

  4. I love that he kept the same energy and spirit to his work. He was such a huge influence on my own career as an artist. I will forever be grateful.
